According to the Arkansas State Police fatal crash summary, the crash occurred around 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2025, at the intersection of Nettleton Avenue and Flint Street in Jonesboro, Craighead County.

Mr. Haney was operating a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Nettleton Avenue. Preliminary reports indicate that his vehicle ran a red light at the intersection and collided with a 2023 Chrysler traveling northbound on Flint Street.

Both Haney and his passenger, Ms. Searcy, were pronounced dead at the scene. The other vehicle's occupants did not report any injuries. The crash occurred in clear weather and dry road conditions. The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Corporal Zach Kaja of the Jonesboro Police Department.

Our thoughts are with the families, friends, and the entire Jonesboro community as they grieve this sudden and tragic loss.

What Families Should Know After a Fatal Intersection Collision

Crashes that happen at intersections—especially those involving motorcycles—are frequently the result of split-second decisions or failures to yield. When a traffic light is ignored, the legal implications can be significant.

In Arkansas, surviving family members may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim under Arkansas Code § 16-62-102. These claims are civil actions that allow families to pursue accountability, secure financial compensation, and gain answers in the aftermath of a preventable tragedy.

What a Wrongful Death Claim Can Accomplish

Surviving relatives may be able to:

✅ Recover funeral and burial expenses
✅ Hold negligent drivers accountable
✅ Seek compensation for lost companionship or support
✅ Demand answers when something preventable leads to loss of life

A wrongful death claim is about more than money—it is a legal and moral stand for the person who was lost, and a crucial step toward emotional closure and justice.

Don’t Wait to Take Legal Action

While local law enforcement continues its investigation, families can begin taking proactive steps:

  • Preserve crash scene photos, dashcam footage, and traffic light data

  • Obtain police and coroner reports

  • Identify all potentially liable parties and insurers

  • Ensure the estate has a personal representative who can bring a legal claim

Waiting too long may result in lost evidence, missed deadlines, or incomplete claims. Early legal help can protect both your rights and your peace of mind.
