According to the Arkansas State Police, two people were killed in a three-vehicle crash on State Highway 56 in rural Sharp County at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

36-year-old Chance F. Huihui of Horseshoe Bend was driving a 2021 Kia westbound when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the north side of the road, and overcorrected. Huihui’s vehicle crossed the center line, striking the rear driver's side of an eastbound 2009 Chevrolet (Vehicle 2), and then continued into the eastbound lane where it collided head-on with a third vehicle (Vehicle 3).

Huihui and the driver of the third vehicle, 59-year-old Tammy M. Johnson of Sage, were both pronounced dead. A 7-year-old female passenger in Johnson’s vehicle was injured and transported to White River Medical Center. Conditions at the time of the crash were clear and dry. The investigation is being led by Trooper First Class Isaac P. Lawson (#583) of the Arkansas State Police.

The bodies were held at Tri County Funeral Home.

What Families Should Know After a Fatal Crossover Collision

Crashes involving vehicles that cross the center line—especially during curves—are often sudden and devastating. These types of wrecks may be caused by driver overcorrection, distraction, speeding, or road unfamiliarity, and they frequently result in serious or fatal injuries.

In Arkansas, families who lose a loved one in a crash like this may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim under Ark. Code § 16-62-102. This type of legal action can help provide:

  • Compensation for funeral and burial costs

  • Damages for emotional loss and loss of companionship

  • Accountability when another driver’s actions cause preventable harm
