Deadly Interstate Crash in Crawford County: What We Know

CRAWFORD COUNTY, AR: A fatal multi-vehicle collision occurred in the early hours of June 16, 2025, on Interstate 40 Eastbound near the 9-mile marker in Van Buren, Crawford County, according to a report by the Arkansas State Police.

The crash happened at approximately 2:09 a.m. under clear skies and dry road conditions. Authorities report that a 2007 RAM, driven by 64-year-old Mark Holmes of Mandeville, Louisiana, collided with the rear of a 2022 Volvo traveling in the same direction. After the initial collision, Holmes’ vehicle rotated in the roadway and was struck by a 2023 Peterbilt truck.

Holmes was killed in the crash. A minor male passenger from Sylmar, California, was injured and transported to Mercy Hospital. The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Trooper Logan Hatcher #84 of the Arkansas State Police.
