REDFIELD, Ark. — A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred early in the morning of July 12, 2025, on Interstate 530 near the 23-mile marker in Jefferson County. The collision happened at approximately 4:40 a.m. and resulted in the death of 44-year-old Aaron James Mitchell of Pine Bluff.

According to the Arkansas State Police, a 2021 Chevrolet and a 1998 Jeep were both traveling northbound on I-530 when they collided. Following the impact, the Jeep—driven by Mitchell—left the roadway and struck several trees.

Mitchell was killed in the crash. The weather was clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the incident. No other injuries were reported. The body was held at the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. The crash is under investigation by Trooper Zachary J. Means with the Arkansas State Police.
