Confident
Often, the answer to a legal question or the outcome of a trial can make a significant difference in the life of a client. You are expected to be knowledgeable about the laws and procedures that govern the State’s response to criminal activity, so that you can quickly and decisively provide reassurance, clarity, and positive outcomes for our clients.
Creative
Approach every obstacle or challenge with this question: What haven’t I done to solve this issue? Leave no stone unturned as you create a solution for a client.
Adaptable
Deadlines change, new facts emerge, and a new intake calls the firm every 10 minutes, on average. Whether you are cross-examining a witness, executing administrative tasks, or creating marketing content, you have to adapt to the information that is presenting itself in the moment.
Mentally Tough
In the criminal defense world, you encounter all of the hurt, injustice, and frustration that comes from criminal charges. In the midst of obstacles, you must relentlessly pursue a positive outcome for the client.
Curious
You are not expected to know everything from day one. You are, however, expected to display curiosity on a daily basis. This can be in the form of a question posed to a colleague, or independent research — always with the expectation to document and share with the team what you find out!
