Woman sentenced to a year and a half in prison for wire fraud
Little Rock, Ark. — Attorney Kale Ludwig secured a significant result for his client in a complex federal wire fraud prosecution involving unemployment benefit claims across 13 states.
Our client originally faced 22 counts of wire fraud, each carrying substantial federal penalties. Through negotiations and advocacy, Ludwig obtained a resolution in which 21 of the 22 counts were dismissed, and our client pleaded guilty to a single count of wire fraud.
Although Greer faced up to 20 years in federal prison under federal law, the advisory sentencing guidelines called for 15 to 21 months. Following sentencing, U.S. District Judge James M. Moody Jr. imposed an 18-month sentence, placing the case squarely within the advisory guideline range rather than anywhere near the statutory maximum.
